Student Governor Maurer Fundraises through Music
Governor Maurer, a biology student at Nicholls State University, participates in fundraising activities through music. Earning a 4.0 GPA and President’s List recognition during his first two semesters, Governor Dane Maurer plays drums in the rock band Silver String Brothers alongside his friends Aiden Soignet and Brayden Gros for over a year.
With Silver String Brothers, Governor Maurer has performed at multiple Phi Mu events. On November 14, 2025, the band performed at a fundraiser for Manning Children’s Hospital in New Orleans that raised approximately $15,000. In early March, the band helped raise about $17,000. The band also performed at a Nicholls Phi Mu fundraiser that raised approximately $15,000.
Professionally, Governor Dane Maurer serves as a phlebotomist at Thibodaux Regional Health System. He draws blood, collects specimens, processes laboratory specimens, and completes add-on tests requested by physicians. Outside his musical activities, Mr. Maurer maintains membership in the Pre-Professional Medical Association, the Colonel Catholics, and the Honors Society at Nicholls.
